How Quest & Query works
Every build starts with a written scope and a price range, nothing starts without your approval, and every client gets the same terms.
How a build goes
- 01
First call
Free, half an hour. What you need, and whether it is a fit.
- 02
Written scope
What gets built, what is out, what done means, and a price range.
- 03
Your approval
Nothing starts until you approve the scope in writing.
- 04
Build
Changes along the way get priced and approved before they happen.
- 05
Looked after
Monitoring, fixes and improvements once it is live.
Three ways to work
Builds
For anything that does not exist yet. Before work starts, you get a short written scope: what gets built, what is out, and what done means.
A price range in the written scope, with the assumptions that would move it spelled out. Where the scope is unclear, a short paid discovery comes first.
Ongoing care
For systems that need to keep running. Monitoring, security, fixes, small improvements and a standing call, with the cost known before the month starts.
A fixed monthly fee for a set block of time. Three months to start, then month to month. If the work looks likely to run past the block, you hear about it first.
Hourly help
The small stuff: a fix, an investigation such as tracking down a problem, a call to think a problem through.
Billed by the hour in 15 minute steps and invoiced monthly, for work whose time can't be known in advance.
Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus GST.
Every client gets the same terms
- Nothing starts without your written go ahead.
- Surprises get flagged before they cost money.
- Invoices arrive monthly and itemized. Hosting and third party services run on your behalf are billed at cost on the same invoice.
- Where practical, services run on accounts in your business's name, so the work stays yours.
- Every build ends with plain documentation and a walkthrough, so your team, or another developer, can run it without Quest & Query.
How AI work is built
- People approve
- Agents do the research and the legwork; people decide. Anything that publishes, sends or spends waits for a person to approve it.
- Named tools, known costs
- The scope names the models and services a build uses and what they cost to run. Running costs are billed at cost on the monthly invoice.
If your business has compliance requirements, the build works inside them. Vendors are chosen for their SOC 2 certifications, and data stays where your rules say it lives, in Canada or wherever your regulator requires. Quest & Query has designed systems around data residency requirements and worked within them.
